The San Juan Islands Agricultural Guild invites you to celebrate local food with an Eat Island Grown tasting event at historic Brickworks.
The talented chefs and unique foods grown, made and gathered in the San Juans create an exceptional culinary destination here in the islands. Try mouth-watering samples of seasonal cuisine all under one roof at the second annual Eat Island Grown tasting event on Sunday, Oct. 28, 12–4 p.m. at Brickworks in Friday Harbor during the Friday Harbor Film Festival.
Farmers and chefs from around the islands will team up to showcase locally sourced sweet and savory tastes and honor the people that make that food possible. Enjoy locally produced soft drinks and alcoholic beverages while bidding on exceptional silent auction offerings, all to benefit the San Juan Islands Agricultural Guild’s countywide farming initiatives.
The Eat Island Grown event promotes the Island Grown in the San Juans brand — a program that brings together San Juan County producers, food purveyors and supporters who value local products.
“The event can expand market opportunities for producers by partnering them with a chef they have never worked with before,” said Ag Guild Director, Steph Coffey. “It also gives us an opportunity to highlight the importance of eating island grown products to benefit our local economy.”
Plus, it’s a delicious way to learn about the local food scene in the islands!
The benefit silent auction will help raise funds for the Island Grown program. Last year’s auction highlights included scrumptious dessert offerings, guided wine tours and private dinners from acclaimed local chefs. This year’s auction promises fabulous offerings for everyone. Watch the Brickworks website and Facebook page to get a head start.
There is no admission fee. Tickets for food start at $3. Come for a bite or stay for a meal on this island gourmet adventure. Brickworks is conveniently located within two blocks of the ferry.
This event is part of Savor the San Juans, a two-month fall celebration of food, art and culture in the San Juans. Related events can be found at visitsanjuans.com/savor.
