The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.
Sept. 23
• A San Juan deputy initiated a traffic stop in the 500 block of Roche Harbor. The driver was issued a citation for speeding.
• A deputy on Orcas received a complaint of several vehicles with expired registration in the Crane Island parking area located in Deer Harbor. Several owners were contacted about the complaint and warning stickers were placed on vehicles.
• A deputy on Orcas responded to an animal problem. A report was taken as the case is ongoing.
• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a welfare check.
Sept. 24
• A deputy responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on San Juan after dispatch reported hearing a female screaming very loud at the address.
• San Juan deputies were dispatched to a report of domestic violence at the Friday Harbor marina. A suspect was arrested for violating a no-contact order.
• Deputies on San Juan responded to a possible trespassing complaint. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
• A deputy responded to a call of found property in Eastsound. A backpack and a handbag containing various clothing items were placed in the property room.
• A deputy on Orcas responded to a citizen dispute.
• A deputy on Orcas responded to a fraud complaint. A house advertised for rent on Craigslist without the owner’s knowledge or consent. The complainant had rented the house before realizing the ad was a fake.
• A deputy on San Juan responded to a suspicious call regarding subjects possibly using drugs. Two people were located and were advised not to smoke marijuana in public places.
• A San Juan deputy stopped a motorcyclist for traveling 37 mph in a posted 25 mph speed zone. The rider was issued a citation for speeding.
• A deputy was dispatched to location near Eastsound about a report of graffiti. A suspect was later identified and the case has been sent to the prosecuting attorney’s office.
• A deputy on Orcas responded to a threats complaint. The involved parties were contacted. There was insufficient evidence that a crime had been committed.
Sept. 25
• A deputy responded to a report of fraud Friday Harbor. The deputy contacted the manager of the business and learned that someone had attempted to pass a fake bill. The investigation continues.
• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for traveling 47 mph in a posted 25 mph speed zone. The driver was issued a citation for speeding.
• A deputy on San Juan stopped the driver of a vehicle for speeding. The driver was issued a citation for not having insurance.
• An Orcas deputy responded to a barking dog complaint. The dog was not barking when the deputy arrived. The owner was contacted and informed of the San Juan County ordinance governing barking dogs.
• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for an expired registration. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
Sept. 26
• A deputy on San Juan stopped the driver of a vehicle for a defective brake light. The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license.
• A deputy was dispatched to a report of a domestic disturbance on San Juan. The person was contacted by phone. The person was not reporting a crime but needed information, which was provided.
• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision. The driver was issued citations for driving too fast for conditions; for having wheels off roadway and for failing to sign the vehicle’s registration.
• Deputies on Orcas responded to a report of vehicle off the roadway. A tow truck was dispatched and the vehicle was recovered with no apparent damage.
• An Orcas deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle on Lovers Lane. The driver, a local man, was subsequently issued a citation for driving without a valid operator’s license.
• A deputy on San Juan stopped the driver of a vehicle for speeding. The driver was issued a citation for traveling 40 mph in a 25 mph speed zone.
Sept. 27
• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle because the driver had a suspended driver’s license. Subsequently, the driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license-third degree and was issued a citation for having an open marijuana in a vehicle.
• San Juan deputies were dispatched to a report that may have been an instance of domestic violence but the involved parties were uncooperative resulting in no further action taken.
• A Lopez deputy took possession of a cell phone that was found along the road. The phone owner was identified and the phone was returned.
• A Lopez deputy was sent to check on an open 911 call from a residence. The call turned out be accidentally initiated when the phone was dropped.
• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report of an assault. The incident was investigated and documented.
• A deputy on San Juan responded to report of a citizen dispute. This was a ongoing issue from earlier the same evening. Both parties were advised to separate.
• An Orcas deputy responded to a curfew violation in the Eastsound area. The investigation is ongoing.
Sept. 28
• A deputy on Orcas responded to a report of an online fraud. The reporting party suffered no monetary loss, as of yet, and requested a report be made. The information was gathered and a report was made.
• A driver on Lopez was issued a warning for speeding.
• A deputy in Friday Harbor took a report of theft of political signs. With no suspects or leads, the incident was documented.
• On San Juan, a deputy tagged and issued a citation to a vehicle posted for sale on the public roadway.
Sept. 29
• A deputy responded to a trespassing complaint in Friday Harbor. The caller reported that a male had worn out his welcome at their business, and wished him trespassed. The male was served a trespass letter, refused to leave the following day and was subsequently arrested for trespassing.
• A deputy was contacted about a theft on San Juan The person was reporting the theft of items from a job site. There are no suspects at this time.
• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of safekeeping. A firearm was retrieved and placed in evidence.
• A San Juan deputy responded to an EMS call regarding an intoxicated juvenile. A party was located nearby where several intoxicated minors were located.
