Chamber Music Festival returns to Lopez with August concert

The Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival is returning to Lopez Island with a live concert at Grace Episcopal Church on Sunday, Aug. 15, 3 p.m.

The 24th Festival Season will be filled with two weeks of live and live-streamed performances at Orcas Center and includes one live performance at Grace Episcopal Church on Lopez Island. The 3 p.m. live concert will have limited seating in conformance with current COVID-19 guidelines.

OICMF Founder and Artistic Director Aloysia Friedmann has assembled a joyous celebration of the return to live performance with Chamber Music on Lopez Island: From Bach to Beethoven. The concert includes works for wind and stringed instruments and a Bach solo concerto for keyboard and strings, featuring a stunning harpsichord on loan from Roger Sherman, Director of Liturgy and Music at Grace Church and host of “The Organ Loft” on Classical KING-FM 98.1 in Seattle.

Lopez welcomes Aloysia Friedmann, violin and viola, OICMF Artistic Advisor Jon Kimura Parker, harpsichord, violinists Sandy Yamamoto and Jeff Thayer, cellist Lachezar Kostov, double bassist David Grossman, Richie Hawley clarinet, Rodger Burnett horn, and Dana Jackson, bassoon.

There will be no post-concert reception this year, but Lopez attendees are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy on the lawns of the Parish Hall overlooking Lopez Village after the concert.

Tickets for the Lopez concert can be purchased only on the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival website, https://oicmf.org/tickets/. Adult seats inside Grace Church are $40 and youth ages 18 and under are $10. No tickets or concert reservations will be sold at the Lopez Farmers Market this year, but the OICMF Chamber Music on Lopez Island booth will display information about the program and the musicians.
