Lopez Animal Protection Society is excited to be able to offer low-cost microchipping for Lopez dogs and cats.
This year we established “Vesla’s Fund” to memorialize and honor a former board member and good friend, Vesla George. All donations to LAPS designated as memorials, beginning with those dedicated to Vesla, will be set aside in this fund for an annual special project.
Our first “Vesla” project is to offer Lopez pet owners an opportunity to microchip their pets, which is a very safe and reliable way to identify and reunite lost pets with their owners.
As an animal welfare non-profit organization, LAPS is qualified to receive ResQ microchips from Bayer Pharmaceuticals at a lower price and Veterinarian Jerry Scherzinger has generously agreed to provide the procedure for a reduced rate. This allows LAPS to offer microchipping at a total cost of $10 for the chip and implant for either a dog or cat. The usual cost is $50 or more.
This safe procedure consists of placing a rice-sized microchip just under the skin in the neck or shoulder of the pet. They are based on passive Radio Frequency Identification technology and are designed to last the pet’s lifetime with virtually no side effects. The ResQ chips can then be read, through the skin, by a scanner that will provide a unique ID, allowing direct contact with the owner through information provided at the time of chipping.
This allows you to travel anywhere in the world knowing that should your pet become lost, there is a good chance any vet or shelter will be able to scan and identify your pet and contact you immediately.
To take advantage of this limited offer, please call Lopez Animal Protection Society, 468-2591 or 468-2258, as soon as possible. We will provide the form/voucher, then you make an appointment with Ark Vet Clinic for your pet to be permanently identified.
