Boys’ Soccer Is Locked In

by Mycah Kraushaar

The 2024 boys varsity soccer season is shaping up to be a thrilling culmination of this senior class’s years of work building this program.

This is my last year coaching, and I’ve had the privilege of knowing these kids and working with them since they were 6th and 7th graders. There’s so much excitement in the air and an intensity that Lopez has not historically boasted.

Being able to field a starting lineup made almost entirely of juniors and seniors who have been playing together for upwards of seven years, if not longer, is truly a recipe for success.

Since I’ve known these boys, their passion for soccer has been awe inspiring. Our collective senior class this year, featuring captains Ethan Patrick, Rafa Velazquez and Rowdy Spreine, but also including Henry Robles, Uli Velazquez, Jacób Velazquez Velazco and Jacob Sanford, are all talented players who are dedicated to proving something to our district, community and to themselves. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to be a part of it. Whatever happens this year, we are so unbelievably proud of them. But we’re also expecting some great games and several wins.

We hope to see you all there!
