Lopez Summer Workshops
The Lopez Island Family Resource Center’s 2008 Summer Workshop brochures were mailed out to all Lopez residents in mid-April. If you didn’t receive one, they are available online at www.lifrc.org. Brochures are also available at the Lopez Library, Lopez Chamber of Commerce, and of course at the Family Resource Center! Some classes have a limited number of spaces and we anticipate they will fill, so please send in your registration forms as soon as possible to assure you get the classes you want! World Beat Ensemble performance

Get ready to dance at the Chris Bramble Band performance
The Chris Bramble Band is performing on Saturday, April 26, 7:30 p.m. at the Lopez Island Grange Hall, $10. DANCE! The Chris Bramble Band is self-described as danceable, improvisational, inspirational folk-rock influenced by such diverse artists as Bob Marley, John Coltrane and early Grateful Dead. Growing and Eating Tomatoes
Danah Feldman will present “Growing and Eating Tomatoes in the San Juans” at Sunset Builders Supply and Garden Center on Saturday, April 26, 11 a.m. The lecture is free.
Ice Cream Social
It’s time for the Annual Ice Cream Social on Thursday, May 1, 7:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose room of Lopez School. There will be fresh, delicious Lopez Island Creamery ice cream, with toppings, and music by the Lopez High School Band. Cost: $4 for adults, $2 under 19, $10for a family. Ice cream costs $1.50/scoop, which includes toppings. This event is a fundraiser for the arts at Lopez School.
4-H Horse Rangers benefit auction and dinner
The 4-H Horse Rangers are holding a benefit auction and dinner on May 2, 5:30 p.m. at Lopez Center. It’s a fundraiser for the 4-H Horse Rangers with part of the proceeds to go to Lopez Island Hospice and Home Support. Dinner includes: salmon and chicken on the BBQ, organic greens, side dishes from Vortex, rolls, and desert! Auction includes 10 yards pit run, fresh salmon fillets, a dinner by Mary Jenison, artwork by local artists, a night at The Islander Lopez Resort, and much more. LIFRC Tech News
Computer classes are now forming at the Lopez Island Family Resource Center. Classes include: Beginning Word, Beginning Excel, Digital Photography Basics, Digital Audio Principles and Basic Internet Searching. All courses are taught as mentored learning. Online instructional videos are utilized as well as in class discussion. The LIFRC has a PC and Mac-based computer lab open to the island community Monday through Friday, 9-5. Come surf the internet, make a movie or write a resume. The LIFRC recently improved its internet speed and offers free wireless.
