The San Juan County Solid Waste Division is looking for “trash volunteers” for this year’s County Fair. The introduction of this team of people is to better the recycling rate of last year’s fair which was 11.2 percent.
In a press release issued by the county, the duties of the monitors were described as follows: “These good folks (young and old) will be stationed at major trash collection areas at the Fair (for one to two hour shifts) to help fairgoers decide on just what can be recycled; we’ll also provide instruction about eliminating contamination, like liquids and food, in the recycling bins.”
