The Lopez Island Library is excited to announce a new Summer Reading Program for students entering 6th-12th grades. Participants will earn a raffle ticket for every 75 minutes they spend reading.
Tickets may be put toward any or all of six different prizes: a boxed set of “The Hunger Games” trilogy, a six volume set of “The New Prophecy : Warriors”, a $25 GameStop gift card, a $25 iTunes gift card, $25 cash, or 1st dibs on new library materials for 2 months.
The goal for the six-week program is 600 minutes spent reading. Those who reach the goal of 600 minutes will get a raffle ticket plus fivebonus tickets. Raffle prize winners will be selected during the Teen Movie Night on August 3. Students signing up for the program get to choose a free book. For details go to www.lopezlibrary.org/teens.
The Summer Reading Program for kids up to fifth grade begins Saturday, June 18 with a party at 1 p.m. in the community room. The program will run for eight weeks, ending on August 10. Kids are invited to sign up any time at the library. As in the past, readers will earn book bucks that can be spent at Islehaven bookstore.
