KLOI celebrates two years on the air

KLOI Radio, Lopez Island’s own low-power FM station, will celebrate two years on the air with a birthday party on Saturday, June 12, from 1-3 p.m. at the Pavilion at Lopez Center, adjacent to the Farmers’ Market.

KLOI Radio, Lopez Island’s own low-power FM station, will celebrate two years on the air with a birthday party on Saturday, June 12, from 1-3 p.m. at the Pavilion at Lopez Center, adjacent to the Farmers’ Market.

Board members and program hosts will be serving chocolate birthday cake from Holly B’s and giving away free gifts while marimba music entertains visitors to the gathering.

The birthday party will be followed up with an open house at KLOI’s Center Road studio from 3-5 p.m. Islanders are invited to stop by and see how community radio works, check out the equipment and have a chance to be on the air.

KLOI, a low-power community radio station, began broadcasting in April 2008 at 102.9 on the FM dial. Information about programs and other news can be found at kloi.org.
