Joe Reilly will perform for his 10th anniversary performance on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 4 p.m. at Lopez Center with Jaime Cordova and Colin Doherty.
Reilly’s annual concerts have become a joyful, inter-generational celebration of life and music. The Kalamazoo Gazette calls his music “Good medicine for the heart.”
Joe Reilly is a singer, songwriter and educator from Ann Arbor who writes songs from his heart. Reilly’s songs are playful, clever, engaging, joyful, and always have something meaningful to say. The core of his message is an invitation to heal our relationships with ourselves, with each other, and with the earth. Joe uses his music to bring people together and build community across lines of race, class, gender, ethnicity, religion, age, and nationality.
Jaime Cordova and Colin Doherty will join Reilly onstage. Cordova will be playing the conga, bongo and cajon, while Doherty will join in on the bass.
“I always have a great time playing with Reilly; he has great tunes and energy,” said Doherty. “I love how he can get such a wide range of ages dancing!”
“I am very excited to return to Lopez for what will mark my 10th anniversary visit,” Reilly shared recently. “I remember the summer of 2007 when I first set foot on the island and was greeted by Rosie, Geordie, and Jaime, and sang with the kids on the hillside outside of the library. It is amazing and wonderful that each year I have had the fortune to return and be graced with the opportunity to make music with Jaime and in more recent years with Colin and the community of kindred spirits who reside on Lopez.”
Come and bring the whole family to the concert on Sunday, Feb. 21 at the Lopez Center. Doors open at 3:30 and the show begins at 4. Ticket are $10 for adults and $5 for youth.
