Charley Thweatt’s music has been described as bringing “deep connection and playful joy that leaves your heart open and your spirit soaring.”
Thweatt will be playing his inspired acoustic music on Lopez during a concert, two workshops, and an appearance at the Teddy Bear Picnic next week.
The “Chants Encounter” concert and mini workshop will be on Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. “The Heart of ‘A Course in Miracles’” workshop is on Thursday, Aug. 21 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Both events are at Grace Episcopal Church, and there is a $15 suggested donation for each.
Thweatt will also perform at the 28th Annual Teddy Bear Picnic at the Lopez Library on Wednesday, August 20, at 11 a.m. There will be snacks and entertainment, bring your bear (or other stuffed friend) and a sun hat. This event is free. Thweatt will regale the crowd with silly songs and Mr. Bear may even be lured out of his cave in the library basement.
Thweatt, who lives in California, has been a presenter for spiritual organizations and metaphysical conferences for over 25 years throughout the U.S., Europe, Australia, and Japan. He has appeared on television and radio with his original songs.
Rosie Sumner, who works at Lopez Library, is close friends with Thweatt and arranged to bring him to Lopez. “I first met Charley 18 years ago at a personal growth family retreat in Oregon. I was going through a big transition in my life and was shy and nervous about being at the event. Charley’s presence and music made me feel warm and welcome within minutes. I go and find him and his music at least twice a year since then. I know that his music is transformative for me and I have watched many people go through deep healing being around him. He has intuition about who is needing to be soothed with music and he gently directs it their way,” said Sumner.
His concerts are interactive and often include simple circle dances and group singing of inspirational melodies and harmonies. The workshops explore personal growth and relationships and help people to “open their hearts” through gentle techniques.
