On Nov. 1, the Rotary Club of San Juan Island presented Lopez Elementary third grade students with dictionaries designed especially for this grade level.

Their teacher, Connie Holz, especially likes looking for facts about our state, math  and of course the “longest word” in the dictionary with her students.

Rotary encourages students to be curious about our language and have fun reading.

The Rotary Club of San Juan Island is also very proud of a Friday Harbor Graduate, Lindsey Youngquist, who is presently studying in Nepal. She is a recipient of a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship, where she is working on her pathway to becoming a doctor with interests in global health.
