The Philosophy Of a Global Community
Since my transition from an island community to a huge city in Mexico, I have watched the radical changes occurring Stateside and how the fallout affects others. These shockwaves are massive, and for the first time, many of us can’t see forward; we can’t see the future or prepare for the long term. While we Boomers have our jaws on the floor regarding what we’ve created, the next generation faces an uncertain future but armed with technological skills unheard of even ten short years ago.
As we complete a cycle of 5,125 years and for the first time the entire planet is interconnected, we have collectively reached a saturation point. Cultures and civilizations are transforming, and this transformation isn’t confined to only one place. Events triggered some time ago are playing out on the world stage with astonishing speed as our solar system is now within range of the galactic center and its mysterious effects and signals.
Our culture seems to be alone in its Disneylike vision of “It’s a Small World.” Time-honored and tested philosophies have fallen by the wayside as many now scramble to adapt to a world that is still far from finished in its changes.
Where twenty years ago we were grabbing our crystals and visualizing world peace, the bumper sticker “Visualize whirled peas” comes to mind.
We all want safety, security and some sort of a guarantee, and hooray to the islands for refraining from mainlanding in terms of bringing McDonalds, etc. to the community. I know many are having a difficult time there due to the impact of the global meltdown, but I also well remember severe winters where there was no power for weeks and neighbors helped neighbors survive it. You will also survive this, but not without changes; living in the islands is a choice, even a privilege to some.
Now that summer is underway and we head to the 4th of July, I do hope you all have a prosperous summer and have the good sense to lay away as much as possible for the lean months. Since those months will be here soon enough, enjoy the moment and each other, and keep on lending those helping hands to each other.
Aries (March 21- April 19): Monday’s New Moon in your sector of Home gives you the urge to clear the cluttered closets! You won’t have time later, so you may as well do it now. Talkative Mercury has sailed into its own sign of Gemini, igniting lively conversations, debates and ideas with those close to you. You may feel that you need a break in all of this, so be sure to get some unwired downtime to collect yourself.
Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Still lots going on with your sign, but this Jupiter/Neptune conjunction now sees both planets in retrograde, so some activities will slow down in your sector of career; this may mean steps are being taken to cut tasks or eliminate them altogether. Your resourcefulness pays off for you now as you use your creative mind to make necessary adjustments.
Gemini (May 21- June 20): Your Ruler Mercury is ensconced in your sign now, giving you energy and the gift of gab. Time to socialize, play and make merry, which is what you like doing most, when you’re not reading at least four books at a time. Your sector of expansion/travel/higher education takes a back seat now as both Jupiter and Neptune have turned retrograde, necessitating you to stand still for a minute.
Cancer (June 21 – July 22): The New Moon in your sign on Monday clears doubts surrounding your role in the world. You have been one of the signs under profound stresses of transformation, but with your ability to withdraw under a rock, you’ve been able to bring thoughts and ideas from the back burner into the front of your mind. Now that we are in your birthday month, you have renewed energy and a good grasp on reality.
Leo (July 23 – August 22): The New Moon on Monday in your sector of New Beginnings brings an end to something that has been causing you some angst. Your sector of relationships has also calmed down, now that the Jupiter/Neptune conjunction is in retrograde. You have some breathing room, so take it and air your mind out. This will energize you in a way that you need. Bask in it!
Virgo (August 23 – September 21): With Mercury having moved into your sector of career, you will be in communication with others near and far as changes come your way, necessitating meetings and conferences. Helping you is your sector of expansion, which gives you solid leads and efficiency. This is good! If your desk is messy, don’t worry about it. You know where everything is, as long as nobody touches stuff!
Libra (September 22 – October 23): The New Moon in your sector of career reveals new avenues for you to pursue, and during the next months you will make some good gains in that area. Your sector of creativity has settled down now that both Jupiter and Neptune are retrograde there, so this is your opportunity to shift your focus to the tasks at hand. During this time, be careful not to cut ties that are valuable.
Scorpio (October 24- November 22): The New Moon in your sector of expansion shows you where your thinking was flawed, and now you can take corrective action. The home front should be relatively quiet due to Jupiter and Neptune having gone retrograde; while this may cause delays, the ultimate outcome is to your benefit so use your time constructively. You and your life partner have a real edge now to work as a team with great results.
Sagittarius (November 23 – December 20): The New Moon in your sector of intimacy reveals new avenues in sharing. You are a sign that likes action, so take that positive action and make a difference. Your Ruler Jupiter is now retrograde, conjoined with Neptune who is also retrograde. This will quiet your mind as the frenetic energy around you moves off for a time. Use this time well to regain losses and prepare for a new direction.
Capricorn (December 21 – January 20): You find a comfortable pace in the midst of chaos as a sudden order comes to your mind, thanks to the New Moon in your sector of relationships. Your mind is one that sees from a high vantage point, and sometimes it’s difficult for you to narrow down to a detail; but you don’t need to do that now anyway. Watch your pocketbook as Jupiter and Neptune have both gone retrograde in your sector of money. Stay within your means and you’ll be just fine. And take that second job!
Aquarius (January 21 – February 20): Jupiter and Neptune have gone retrograde in your sign, and this slows things down enough for you to get a healthy grip on reality. The New Moon in your sector of health may reveal a nagging problem that needs to be addressed. This is a good time to get checked out and to focus on your overall health. Since your sign can go to either extreme in terms of eccentricity, focus on moderation now. Air signs in general need to slow down and regroup, so this is your chance.
Pisces (February 21 – March 20): The New Moon in your sector of creativity clears the way for a different way of thinking that will yield good results. You are under a state of transformation on many levels, and you mustn’t feel you have wasted your time. Your life turns into somewhat of an experiment now, as you emerge from the depths to take a look around. You’ll find stuff you like!
