Student volunteer award dedicated to Lynn Waller

Lynn Waller has demonstrated a lifetime commitment to the education and development of Washington high school students through his positions as a high school principal and teacher starting in 1950.

Lynn Waller has demonstrated a lifetime commitment to the education and development of Washington high school students through his positions as a high school principal and teacher starting in 1950.

He has served on the Lopez High School accreditation team and continues to serve the school as a consultant. Waller has had a significant impact on the lives of many Lopezians throughout his leadership and his teaching.

Waller and his family have been associated with Lopez Island since 1954. In recognition of Waller and his service, the Lopez Center for Community and the Arts Board has established the Lynn Waller Student Volunteer Recognition Award.

Two high school students received this award for the first time in June of 2010. These two students, Tucker Hoffman and Elena Borhani-Bakker, were picked based on their outstanding service to the community. This award will continue to be given annually.
