On Friday at 7 p.m. at the Lopez Library, there will be an opportunity to experience the dynamic story telling abilities of Linda Allen.
Allen is a Bellingham songwriter, performer and educator with a passion for telling the stories of women whose narratives may have been lost.
The event is entitled “Here`s to the Women: Songs, Stories and Images of Washington`s Women.” Running at 45 minutes, the presentation is multimedia and will include sing-a-long songs, images, stories and readings.
Various characters are featured. For example, Spokane’s Helga Estby who walked across the United States in 1896, Alice Lord who organized Seattle waitresses in the 1930s, Rosie the Riveter, an icon from the ‘40s, and Rosalinda Guillen, a contemporary activist.
