I am writing to support the re-election of John Helding to the Lopez School Board.  John helped me prepare for the SATs during my junior year and then assisted me in applying to college. He read countless drafts of my senior essay, spent hours teaching me to take the SAT and I am so appreciative of his willingness to help me as well as many other Lopez Island students. I recently left Lopez to begin college and I believe that I am able to follow my dreams at Mount Holyoke College because of all the support I received from community members, such as John, who gave me the resources and encouragement I needed. While in high school, I often saw John eating lunch in the cafeteria connecting with students of all ages. John clearly is dedicated to improving Lopez School and supporting its students and I believe he will continue to be an excellent school board member.
