High School student Kevin O’Bryant is the winner of the Lopez Island Farmers’ Market Poster Contest.

“When I won it was like a weight had been lifted because the wait had been so long … followed by an overpowering feeling of joy and triumph,” he said.

The young artist said it took him about 11 hours to complete the poster, which is a wonderful array of produce, flowers and berries in crates.

“I didn’t like the idea of vegetables and berries being in a pile on the poster,,” said O’Bryant about his idea for integrating crates into the image. “I sketched some ideas and the poster went from there.”

The Farmers’ Market opening day is May 17, from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. every Sat. through Sept. 13. The market is located in the village.
