Friday Harbor, WA – The first Pod Nod of the season will be held June 27 at The Whale Museum. The theme is “The Other Whales” (Humpbacks, Minkes, and Grays). Young ocean lovers, ages 6 to 10, will learn how to value the marine environment through art projects, science labs, music, games, and the popular flashlight tour of the Exhibit Hall. This summer we are offering six nights of marine science adventures! Dates are June 27, July 3, 11, 18, 25, and 31. These popular “pajama party” sleepovers will be led by an experienced Museum Educator with assistance from other adult professionals and students.
Each date will have a focus on different themes, including: All About Orcas (learn about the 3 types of orca whales); Native Myths and Legends; Conservation; (Save the Whales); among others. Each Pod Nod will begin at 6:30 p.m., with pick-up the next morning at 8:30 a.m. A bedtime snack and light breakfast are included.
The cost for each Pod Nod is $39 for children/grandchildren of Whale Museum members. The cost for non-members is $49 per Pod Nod. A limited number of scholarships are available. Glow-in-the-dark orca t-shirts are available at a discounted cost of $12 for your Pod Nodder to wear during the flashlight tour! For more information or to register a child in a Pod Nod, please call The Whale Museum at (360) 378-4710 extension 23 or email cindy@whalemuseum.org. Pre-registration is required to ensure a great experience for the Pod Nodders as well as a high adult to child ratio.
