Beginning computer classes
The Lopez Island Family Resource Center will be holding a series of beginning computer classes. All classes are taught as mentored learning. Writers’ Roundtable
Writer’s Roundtable: Sharing Our Writing will be on Saturday, March 8, 1-3 at the Orcas. Library. Please bring one or more poems, fiction, essay, creative non-fiction, memoir, excerpt of a play or screenplay. Each writer may read for about five minutes. Everyone is welcome.
Free Composting Workshops
There will be free composting workshops on Saturday, March 8, 9 a.m. to noon in the Orcas Island Senior Center; Saturday, March 8, 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the San Juan Island Senior Center; and Sunday, March 9, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Lopez Elementary School. Teen paintball trip
On April 10 Island Rec will be traveling to Everett for a day of Indoor Paintball at Doodlebug Sportz Arena. This trip is for middle and high school students. Registration deadline is March 10 so sign up now! Call Island Rec for more information at 378-4953.
Monthly memoir group
There will be a monthly memoir group meeting on Tuesday, March 11, 1-3 at the Orcas Library. All are welcome to join an ongoing group of memoirists for discussion, reading and writing. They meet every second Tuesday.

Fundraising Dinner at Bilbo’s
Orcas Rec is holding a Fundraising Dinner at Bilbo’s on Tuesday, March 18. Seating is between 5:00-9:00. The regular dinner menu will be served. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Orcas Island Recreation Program.
Medicare Hospice in SJC
Lopez Care Partners in association with the Lopez Clinic, Lopez Senior Services and Lopez Island Hospice and Home Support, is hosting a public meeting regarding the introduction of Medicare hospice benefits to San Juan County on Friday, March 7 at the Senior Center from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Another public meeting on Tuesday, March 11 at the Islands Convalescence Center starting at 5 p.m. For more info, call Houston Taylor at 360-630-4697.
