The San Juan Island Stewardship recently awarded the work that Lorri Swanson is doing on behalf of the Lopez Island School District. The “Good Steward Award” was in recognition of the 3-5 grade after school science club that she leads. Accompanied by specialists, this club takes monthly visits to Chadwick Marsh where they perform numerous different experiments.

Swanson was also recognized for her efforts of collaboration with the BLM, San Juan Nature Institute and KWIAHT.

Superintendent Brian Auckland noted, “It’s good to see her drive towards STEM education acknowledged in the community.”
