The City Cantabile Choir under the direction of Fred West will ‘sing to the whales’ at the 10th Annual Orca Sing celebration on June 20 at Lime Kiln Point State Park on San Juan Island.

A program about the orca whales will begin at 6 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the pubic but a $5 per person donation is suggested to help cover equipment and travel expenses.

“While the whales may or may not visit during the concert, we can promise that the Choir’s music on the Solstice sung overlooking Haro Strait will be spectacular,” said Mike Sato of People For Puget Sound.

The choir and cosponsoring local conservation groups invite families to come to enjoy the music and to learn about the health of Puget Sound, about the local orca populations and their place in the ecosystem.

This event is sponsored by the City Cantabile Choir, People For Puget Sound, The Whale Museum, Friends of the San Juans, The Whale Trail, and the American Cetacean Society/Puget Sound Chapter. Orca Sing is an Orca Awareness Month event. Because parking is limited at Lime Kiln Point State Park, carpooling or bus transportation is encouraged.
