Lopez Island
Chimera Gallery in Lopez Plaza presents the paintings of Skip Peralta and the textiles of Debbie Hayward and Maxine Bronstein of Island Fibers, featuring Lopez Island wool, in a show running from June 14 through July 11. Artists’ opening reception is Saturday, June 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. Chimera also exhibits the work of over 20 other Lopez artists. In June, July, and August the gallery is open Monday 10 – 5, Wednesday through Saturday 10 – 5, Sunday 10 – 3, and closed Tuesdays.
Orcas Island
The Lambiel Museum – 668 Olga Rd. Orcas. View work from 1915 to the present of over 200 outstanding San Juan County artists. Open every day for guided tours by appointment. Allow about two hours. $10/person. 376-4544.
San Juan Island
Arctic Raven Gallery – Featuring many new Alaskan artists of Inupiaq, Yup’ik and Athabascan heritage. Intricately carved birds, bears and walrus from St. Lawrence Island; fossilized whalebone and ivory from Shismaref; whimsical Yup’ik wall plaques and masks; miniature baskets, and beaded amulet bags are among the items purchased on recent trips North.
Westcott Bay Reserve Sculpture Park and Nature Reserve – At entrance to Roche Harbor. Take a self-guided tour of over 100 sculptures by island and Northwest artists. Open dawn to dusk. $3 suggested donation. Info: 370-5050.
