Lopez Islander earns WWU scholarship

Western Washington University student Jaise Ilow Poole, son of Don Poole and Ruby Hampton of Lopez Island, received the $1,650 Kobata and Sons Scholarship for Future Farmers for the 2016-17 academic year.

The Kobata and Sons Scholarship for Future Farmers is awarded to undergraduate students who are studying food production through the Outback Farm at Western’s Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies, with the intended outcome being a growth of knowledge in agriculture. Poole graduated from Lopez Island High School in 2013.
