Not just a friend, vote Rick | Letter

I’m writing in support of Rick Hughes for County Council. Not because Rick Hughes is my friend, and yes, it is true, I’ve known Rick Hughes for over 17 years now, going back to when I was President of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

During those years, Rick and I would occasionally have disagreements from time to time, but there was no doubt in my mind that he always had the community’s best interest at heart. He worked hard to support our local small businesses and the Chamber of Commerce. And during those disagreements, we always parted as friends. He is a kind and caring individual, who loves Orcas and the people who live here. During his reign as County Council member, he exhibited great leadership abilities, he was interested in issues of interest to women, and I had the pleasure of working with him on certain issues, and he always listened and made changes in the County that would be a benefit to all. And he is the only candidate to be endorsed by Planned Parenthood.

When Rick first ran for County Council, I did not hesitate to vote for him. Since then, I have seen him help people in trouble and he has earned the right to serve us again.

He is a critical and forward thinker. So, let’s keep thinking forward and vote for the person with deep experience who understands the issues we face today in this county.

I am confident and there is no doubt in my mind, with Rick’s background and expertise, he will make a great County Council person, and I will vote for him once again.
