The ballot for renewing the school levy will be arriving in your mailboxes soon. I am urging you to vote FOR this existing levy which is at the same tax rate that has been in place for the last four years.

The levy provides funds for essential services not covered by support coming from the state. Items funded by the local levy include basic utilities like electricity and phone; sports; drama; the healthy food and garden program; support for students with special needs; staff professional development; art and music; and school nurse hours.

We feel privileged to live on beautiful Lopez Island with so many treasures including an outstanding school. Supporting the education and well-being of our island’s children is a good investment. These young folks and their families make it possible to continue to live here as we get older. Lending our support to them is the right thing to do.
