Returning to Lopez after their successful debut concert a year ago at Center Church on Lopez, three talented fingerstyle guitarists will present genre-bending instrumental interpretations of blues, jazz, folk, classical and Celtic traditions. They explore many styles that have been popularized by artists including Mississippi John Hurt, John Fahey, Leo Kottke, Michael Hedges, Ralph Towner, Andy McKee, and others. This concert features EWM Records artist Peter Janson (from Cape Cod, Massachusetts), Finger Food Productions artist Steve Davison (from Little Rock, Arkansas) and Solid Air Records artist Tracy Moore (from Camano Island, Washington.) Janson is an award-winning contemporary nylon-string guitarist performing his trademark fusion of jazz, classical, and world-folk styles played with passion, artistry, and technical mastery. Davison is a two-time finalist and winner of the solo guitar competition at the Arkansas Acoustic Music Festival, and a finalist in the Merle Travis Fingerstyle Competition. A master 12-string player, Moore has lifted the 12-string guitar above its former role as an accompaniment or power guitar instrument to what Tracy calls “Melodic 12-String Guitar.”
The concert is at Center Church, 312 Davis Rd., on Monday, May 13, at 7:30 p.m. Admission is by sliding scale donation of $15–$20 at the door. The tour website is www.af-tour.com. For more info, email stanleygreenthal@gmail.com.
