The Economic Development Council of San Juan County will facilitate an “Introduction to HTML” course in November and December, as part of their Tech Training Initiative. This 5-week course is an introduction to HyperText Markup Language, the most fundamental tool of web development. Participants will take the course at their own pace through the online learning platform Codecademy. Those who complete the online coursework will receive a certificate of completion from Codecademy. The participants will also meet online twice a week with EDC advisor Liam Griskey-Watson.
This course is open to participants from San Juan County, ages 18 or older who are interested in learning HTML as the first step in a web design career journey or for other paying work. No prior knowledge of HTML is necessary.
Participants will need basic computer skills and access to a laptop or desktop computer less than 5 years old.
Participants will complete 2-4 hours of assignments per week on their own schedule. During the two weekly Zoom sessions, the EDC advisor will review essential topics and answer questions. Attending the Zoom sessions is strongly recommended but not required.
Details: The 5-week course begins Wednesday, Nov. 13, and ends Saturday, Dec. 14. Each week, two Zoom advisory sessions will be held on Wednesday from 5:30-7:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The registration fee is $75 and advance payment is required.
