First Saturday Art Walk is already crackling with energy

This month’s First Saturday Art Walk on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 5-7 p.m. is a late summer harvest crackling with energy, talent and poetry.

Begin your evening at the Lopez Library at 5 pm for an artist talk with talented photographer Leslie Richter and to see the gorgeous watercolors produced this summer by Lopez Library Artist in Residence, Camilla Wildman.

Other participating spaces for exploration between 5-7 pm for Art Walk are: Ship Supply, Old Hand, Chimera Gallery, and Janis Miltenberger’s art studio above Vita’s. There will be artists talks at 6 pm at Chimera Gallery and at 6:30 p.m. Janis Miltenberger’s Studio.

In conjunction with First Saturday Art Walk in September, there will be an enchanting evening of experiencing Lopez Village through the eyes and words of Lopez poets with the Poetry of Place Event.

Begin at the Lopez Library, then following the map of a walking tour of Lopez Village that will have many poetic stops along the way. Hear original poetry written and performed by Abigail Prout in the late summer abundance of Sally’s Garden. Let the children of Lopez remind you of the wonders of the Lopez Library through their poetic voices. Come ready to be inspired and moved.

The Poetry of Place map will be released Sept 1 here on the Lopez Library’s website: www.lopezlibrary.org.

On the night of the event, each stop will have a letter of the alphabet posted in the physical location poetry stop. Visit all the sites to collect all the letters of the secret password, which when whispered to the staff of Vitas will earn you a free drink or dessert item![Text Wrapping Break]Poetic performances will happen between 5-7 pm, ending with reception at Vita’s from 7-8 pm.
