Heather Harrison has been named executive director for the Hamlet Cottages beginning Sept. 1, 2019.

“We are extremely fortunate to welcome Heather Harrison as our new Executive Director,” said Hamlet board president Jim Orcutt. “Heather’s deep connections to the Lopez community, five years of service to people of all ages at the Family Resource Center, and outstanding personal and professional skills made her the ideal choice for us. We all wish Liz Malinoff a good retirement. She’s been a great part of the Hamlet team for 8 years.”

The Hamlet, located in the heart of Lopez Village, offers 14 homes for lease to independent residents age 55 and over. The garden cottage community opened in 2008 to provide options for islanders who wanted to downsize and remain living on the island.

“The Hamlet Cottages holds an integral role in our community. I am excited to work directly for this fabulous group of seniors, to be part of the team that will lead The Hamlet forward,” said Harrison. She holds a bachelor’s in psychology from Bard College, and a master’s of social work from Smith College.
