Invitation to the 2022 Lopez Walkabout

Submitted by Lopez Community Trails Network.

The Lopez Walkabout returns for its ninth year! This is an exceptional opportunity to experience the beauty and appreciate the spirit of community on a guided hike. Lopez private property owners graciously permit us to lead guided tours through their property Saturday and Sunday, August 27 and 28. As an LCTN member you are eligible to participate!

The Walkabout includes separate hikes. One is the northern route and the other, a southern route. The southern route is an 8.5 mile trek between Iceberg Point and Lopez School. The north hike is an 8.5 miler between the ferry landing and Lopez School. We offer the same hikes on both Saturday and Sunday. Hikes begin promptly at 11AM, include a lunch break, and conclude mid-afternoon. Each hiking group is limited to 20 participants, so be sure to sign up as soon as possible. Sign ups are organized by route and by day.

We will confirm your participation by email early August. Participants are invited to join us for a pot luck dinner on Saturday starting 5 p.m. We will provide details about start locations and the pot luck when we confirm your sign up.

Lopez Community Trails Network is an entirely volunteer organization. Our costs include insurance, publications/communication, and trail building and maintenance materials. We request $20 per participant per day to help cover these costs, payable by cash or check on the days you join us. Contributions are much appreciated but not tax deductible.

We are sorry, but we cannot coordinate transportation. We’ll be happy to link members of the same group, so you may make your own arrangements.

We look forward to seeing you!
