On my daily trips back and forth from the Village, passing the Islander field, I was always happy to see a little white rabbit with a black stripe down it’s back, black kohl eyes and black spots here and there. If no one was behind me, I would stop for a bit and watch it chomp furiously on it’s patch of grass, standing out so starkly beside it’s rather drab companions. Yesterday morning, on my way to the ferry, white and black rabbit was dead on the road in front of the Islander. I couldn’t tend to it as I was already late getting my car in line for a ferry I had to catch, so I just cried all the way. I know there are mixed feelings about rabbits on the island and I understand that, but I just want to say, “Thank you, little rabbit, for the pleasure you gave me while you were here.”
