Friday Harbor, WA — Pod Nods return to The Whale Museum for six nights of marine science adventures this summer! Dates are June 27, July 3, 11, 18, 25, and 31. These popular “pajama party” sleepovers in the Museum for children ages 6 – 10 will be led by a Museum Educator with assistance from other adult professionals and students. Youth participants will learn to value whales and their environment through art projects, science labs, music, games, and the traditional flashlight tour of the Exhibit Hall.
Each date will have a focus on different themes, including: All About Orcas (learn about the 3 types of orca whales); The Other Whales (humpbacks, grays, and minkes); Native Legends, Myths, and Crafts; Conservation; (Save the Whales); among others. Each Pod Nod will begin at 6:30 p.m., with pick-up the next morning at 8:30 a.m. A bedtime snack and light breakfast are included.
The cost for each Pod Nod is $39 for children/grandchildren of Whale Museum
members. The cost for non-members is $49 per Pod Nod. A limited number of
scholarships are available. Glow-in-the-dark orca t-shirts are available at
a discounted cost of $12 for your Pod Nodder to wear during the flashlight
tour of the Exhibit Hall! For more information or to register a child in a
Pod Nod, please call The Whale Museum at (360) 378-4710 extension 23 or
