Faster, steeper, higher, deeper – Radical Reels returns to Lopez on March 14.
For the second year, Lopezians will have the opportunity to experience the steepest and deepest in high-adrenaline outdoor sports films from the Banff Mountain Film Festival.
Hurtle down steep untouched powder, feel the cold spray of stomach-dropping kayak first descents, fly high with the world’s wildest BASE jumpers, and explore much more in extreme mountain sports.
Co-hosted by the Lopez Island Family Resource Center and the Lopez Center for Community and the Arts, this event will raise funds for the LIFRC’S Lopez Summer Workshops and the LCCA’s community events.
Lopez Summer Workshops is the only summer-time enrichment and recreational program offered on Lopez Island for residents and visitors of all ages.
Since its inception in 1993, the program has grown into an community resource that opens up new worlds of opportunity not only to youth, but to people of all ages.
Last summer, over 75 workshops were offered, ranging from Beginning Sailing to Silk Screen Painting, from Kayaking to British Challenge Soccer camp. Funds raised from Radical Reels will go toward providing scholarships for workshops so that all young people have the opportunity to participate.
The showing of Radical Reels on Lopez is sponsored by a local family, so all proceeds will go directly to the LIFRC and the LCCA.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth 7-18. Youth age 6 and under are free. This year there is also a special family rate of $25. Tickets are available at Blossom, Paper Scissors, and Islandale starting March 7th, as well as at the door.
Raffle tickets will be sold for two prizes – $400 gift cards to Skagit Cycle Center and Hidden Wave Boardshop. Pizza and drinks will be available for purchase.
