Back by popular demand this Thanksgiving weekend, the Friends of the Lopez Island Library will hold their semi-annual Used Book Sale at the Lopez Community Center. The sale will be held the Friday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Hardback books, paperbacks and other items will be sold at amazing prices. A “best deal” is the red “Friends of the Library” book bag which you can fill to the brim with books and pay only $20. The sale is now accepting credit cards as well as cash. Get there early for the best selection!
All profits from the sale go to the Friends of Lopez Island Library which is the fund raising arm of the library and supports a variety of library programs and special equipment purchases that benefit the library and its patrons.
Special programs supported by the Friends of the Library include presentations by writers such as Olympic Medalist Ginny Gilder, Garth Stein and Thor Hanson as well as talks by scientists such as meteorologist Cliff Mass.
In 2017 there will be a lecture series titled “Extreme” featuring speakers on mountaineering, kayaking and bicycling. The Children’s Summer Reading Program, Teddy Bear Picnic and Books for Babies are programs directed at young readers and future readers.
