Jeff and Debbie Walvatne of Lopez Island announce the engagement of their son Ryan Eugene Walvatne to Kathleen Elizabeth Gustafson, the daughter of Daniel and Donna Gustafson of Jamestown, N.J.

Kathleen Gustafson is a 2003 graduate of Jamestown High School and a 2007 Graduate of the State University at Fredonia with a degree in early childhood education. She is employed as a pre-k teacher by the Edgecombe County School District in Rocky Mount, N.C.

Ryan Walvatne is a 2002 graduate of Lopez High School. He is serving with the U.S Coast Guard and is Stationed in Portsmouth, VA. The wedding will be held in Suffolk, VA on August 7.
