Submitted by the Textile Guild
Captivating visitors are the handmade quilts on display in the Fiber and Textile Arts Building at the upcoming San Juan County Fair. Joining the stunning works is a not-to-be-missed Vintage Hexagon Trip Around the World raffle quilt.
This exceptional quilt was made by Marybell Schuch and was generously donated by her daughter, Nancy Richardson, to support the Rainshadow Quilting Arts Guilds (RQAG) community projects. The quilt top was made during World War II.
Last year alone, the Guild gave away over 75 healing and comfort quilts to those suffering illnesses or loss, to honor veterans, and pre-school children.
RQAG is a 501(c)3 nonprofit and uses the raffle winnings to purchase quilting supplies-fabric, backing and batting to make these quilts.
The raffle for this quilt will be held at the San Juan County Fair in Friday Harbor, August 15-18.
The tickets cost $5 apiece and can be purchased in the Wool Shed during Fair hours of 10:30 am -8 pm. The number of tickets to be sold will be limited to 400, increasing the odds of success for one lucky person. The winning ticket will be drawn on Sunday at 6 pm. The winner need not be present.
The raffle quilt is charming, nostalgic, and calming. It will be a showpiece in any home, a perfect gift for yourself or your special person and cherished for years to come. See you at the Fair.
