The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.
Oct. 2
• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a report of fraudulent activity occurring on Blakely Island. The incident is currently underinvestigation.
• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a Welfare Check. The incident was forwarded to Compass Heath’s Designated CrisisResponders, and the incident was documented.
• Orcas deputies were dispatched to a Domestic Violence Protection Order Violation. An individual was later taken intocustody and booked into the county jail. The incident was documented.
• A deputy on Orcas met with a reporting party about a possible threats call. After speaking with the reporting party, a reportwas authored for informational purposes.
• A deputy on San Juan conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Beaverton Valley Road. The driver was issued an infraction forspeeding; 54 mph in a posted 35 mph speed zone. A report was completed.
• Lopez deputies responded to a report of a hostile goat headbutting people on the soccer field during practice. The soccerplayers were able to successfully corral the goat back to its property before the deputies arrived. No goats or soccer playerswere injured.
• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of a found debit card. The owner was not located and the card was entered intoevidence.
• A deputy on Orcas responded to a disorderly conduct call in Eastsound. Once the deputy arrived the suspect had already lefton foot and was not able to be positively identified to be served a Trespass Warning Letter. The suspect was located the nextday and the letter was issued.
Oct. 3
• A Lopez Island Deputy stopped a vehicle on Hummel Lake Road. The driver was subsequently issued an infraction forspeeding 51 mph in a posted 35 mph zone.
• A Lopez Island Deputy was dispatched to a possible DUI in the Lopez Village. It was determined that an individual wasexperiencing a medical emergency and Lopez Island Fire & EMS were dispatched. The individual was airlifted to a higher levelof care off-island and the incident was documented.
• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle as it was displaying blue headlights and the registered owner had a suspended driver’slicense. The driver was issued criminal citations for driving without an ignition interlock and DWLS third degree andinfractions for no insurance and blue headlights.
Oct. 4
• Deputies on Orcas responded to a possible domestic near Deer Harbor. After all parties were contacted and the investigationwas completed it was found to be a verbal argument only. A report was authored.
• Deputies were dispatched to a Trespassing in the Friday Harbor area. One person was issued a Trespass Warning Letter. Areport was taken.
• San Juan deputies responded to a report of a DUI. The suspect was located and arrested on suspicion of DUI, Driving with aSuspended License in the Third Degree, Assault Third Degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer andOperating a Motor Vehicle without an Ignition Interlock Device.
• A Lopez Island Deputy was dispatched to a hit-and-run motor vehicle collision that occurred at a local business. Thesuspect vehicle was seen leaving the scene. A report was completed.
Oct. 5
• An Orcas Island Deputy took a report of a subject who caused a disturbance in the Seaview Theater during the screening of amovie. The subject allegedly stood up during the movie and began acting erratically causing several patrons of the theater toleave. The subject left without incident.
Oct. 6
• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle for driving left of center and failing to stop at a stop sign. The driver was arrested forDUI and was booked into jail.
Oct. 7
• An Orcas deputy had contact with a reporting party who had concerns of trespassing by neighbors and construction workerson their property. No crime committed. It was determined to be a civil matter.
• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to an Accident Non-Injury. The incident was documented.
• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident. The vehicle had struck a power pole but caused minimaldamage. The vehicle and the driver were gone by the time the officer arrived but were later located. The incident wasdocumented.
Oct. 8
• A deputy on San Juan responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident. The victim was transported to the ER for furthercare. The driver was issued infractions for failure to obey a traffic control device and failing to yield to a pedestrian in acrosswalk. Do not turn left onto Argyle Avenue from Nichols Street!
