The American Red Cross invites community members to attend an informational session on emergency preparedness on Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 7–8 p.m. at the Family Resource Center, 23 Pear Tree Ln, Lopez Island, WA 98261.
Attendees will meet local Red Cross volunteers and the Disaster Program Manager for Northwest Washington Chapter, Carmella Bauman.
The unique Lopez Island community has a number of Red Cross programs and activities already in place. The information session will be an opportunity to learn about local and national initiatives like the Home Fire Campaign, ongoing volunteer opportunities with Disaster Action Teams and training for national disaster deployment. There will also be discussion on how to prepare, respond and recover in the event of a local disaster.
The humanitarian work of the American Red Cross helps to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies. Everyone in the Lopez community is welcome to come to this informative session.
