Blanche M. Sellers

March 21, 2016

Blanche Maryann Sellers, 88, of Lopez Island, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Life Care Center in Sedro-Woolley, WA. She was born on December 7, 1927 in South Hadley, Massachusetts, the daughter of John and Blanche (Morin) Sullivan, the oldest of 9 children. Blanche met her husband, Edward R. Sellers, when he was a young man in the Air Force which took them to Germany after WW II, where he was stationed and their first son, Raymond was born. They returned to the States, to Colorado, where their second son, James was born. They moved from there to Washington, where number three son, David was born. They raised their boys in Mukilteo, WA, where Blanche worked as a teacher’s aide for the Mukilteo School District until retirement. Blanche was an amazing gardener and homemaker. She loved their camping trips. They sold their home in Mukilteo to buy a 36 foot. motorhome and traveled, mostly as snowbirds, to Arizona, where her sisters lived and she spent quality time with. Ed passed away shortly thereafter and so she moved to Lopez Island to be close to her sons where she was a Board Member for the Lopez Senior Center and volunteered for the Lopez Thrift Store and The Friends of Woodmen Hall. Blanche was a member of the Birthday Club on Lopez and a very proud member of her local AA group for 23 years. Her heart was always open to help others. She loved walking the beaches and gardening was her specialty. Her porch was always in bloom!! Blanche loved to cook and her Sunday dinners will be very missed. She had seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren who loved doing projects with her and will miss all her great life stories. Love and miss you Mom! Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., Anacortes, WA and the San Juan Islands.
