The WA Traffic Safety Commission recently wrapped up its Click-it or Ticket campaign in our Region (Whatcom, Skagit, Island, and San Juan Counties)
Seat belt use plays a critical role in reducing the severity of traffic-related injuries and remains a Washington State priority. *Since 2015, nearly a third of all vehicle occupants killed in crashes were unrestrained
Seven Law enforcement Agencies in our Region participated in seven separate patrols.
Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office
Bellingham Police Department
San Juan County Sheriff’s Office
Western Washington University PD
Skagit County Sheriff’s Office
Island County Sheriff’s Office
Oak Harbor Police Department.
Twenty two officers participated in the campaign, making 301 contacts. A total of 197 infractions were issued; of those infractions, 77 were for seat belt violations and 63 for cell phone use. There were 102 warnings issued.
Most Washingtonians (94 percent*) buckle up when they’re on the road. And it’s easy to remind the people you ride with to do it, too.
