‘Coffee With A Cop’ event drew community interest and engagement

Sheriff Eric Peter and several deputies from the Sheriff’s Department held their first “Coffee with a Cop” community event Saturday, Jan. 28 at 13 Ravens Coffee in Friday Harbor. The event was hosted by Liberty Miller, owner of Friday Harbor’s newest coffee shop 13 Ravens Coffee, which opened Dec. 13 in the space formerly occupied by The Bean.

The first-of-its-kind event held by the Sheriff’s Office was well attended, with community members strolling in and engaging with the officers throughout the two-hour event. The informal event provided members of the community with the opportunity to meet and talk with Sheriff Peter and deputies on any topics that interested them.

“What an amazing day,” said Peter, “So many wonderful people, so many wonderful conversations. Many thanks to everyone who joined us to get to know each other better on a more personal level. I am so excited about all of the conversations I had and was even more excited to see the engagement and conversations between our deputies and our fellow community members.”

The next “Coffee with a Cop” will be Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Lopez Grind Coffee Shop from 10 a.m. to noon.
