Community Pumpkin Carving : Come out and enjoy and afternoon of pumpkin carving with your family and friends from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, October 24 at the Lopez School Outdoor Pavilion. The Lopez Island Family Resource Center will provide pumpkins, hot cider and treats. Please bring your own tools (although we will have a limited supply for sale). Cost is $4 per person or $10 for the family. Special thanks to Lopez Village Market, Horsedrawn Produce, and Sunset Builders Supply for their donations. Proceeds from this “FUN-raiser” will help provide Lopez kid’s scholarships for Summer Workshops.

11th Annual LCLT Harvest Dinner and Michael Ableman: The 11th Annual LCLT Harvest Dinner of your favorite local foods will host Michael Ableman. Lopezians bring their favorite dish of local foods. Michael Ableman is a farmer, author, and photographer and a recognized practitioner of sustainable agriculture and proponent of regional food systems. Michael is currently farming at the Foxglove Farm on Salt Spring Island in British Columbia, home of The Center for Arts, Ecology & Agriculture. Admission: free, Sponsored by LCLT and Lopez Locavores. 5:30 p.m. at the LCCA.

Evening Meals at the School: at the Lopez School Multipurpose Room, 5:30 to 7 p.m. This month, Evening Meals at the School goes back to the school. Be a part of this festive community gathering that features local, seasonal and sustainably grown food from our island farms. Jean and Kim have planned a delicious dinner using the abundant local foods available to us. Donations only.
SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC: Lopez Animal Protection Society is offering a Fall Spay/Neuter Clinic. Any Lopez cat can be spayed or neutered for $10; dogs are $20. Please call 468-2258 or 468-2591.
The Lopez Artist Guild: Grant Applications Due The Artist Guild traditionally offers grant money towards the end of the year. This grant is for artists and craftspeople and is to be used for materials and/or equipment and/or training. Applicants must be members of the Lopez Artists Guild and residents of Lopez Island. To apply, go to the Lopez Artists Guild website, click on scholarships and grants then click on financial aid application. Fill out and send the application.

Costumed Benefit Dance: Benefit Dance for Warren Hero, featuring Tiempo del Lopez as well as the Psychedelic Bullfrogs who will open the show around 8 p.m. Admission by donation (suggested $10.00) but all are welcome. Teen Halloween Party: Teens grab your friends, get into your best Halloween costume and come join the fun at Island Rec’s 10th Annual Teen Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 7:30-10 p.m. at the fair grounds. This free party is open to teens in 6th through 12th grade. There will be music, dancing, food, activities and a costume contests with some great prizes. Adult volunteers are needed for this event.
