Community Contra and Square Dance: 7:30 p.m., LCCA. The Rhythm Rollers, one of the hottest contra dance bands from Seattle – Cathy Whitesides on fiddle, Laurie Andres on accordian and W.B. Reid on guitar, will be playing. All dances will be taught and called by Marlin Prowell of Bellingham. This will be the last scheduled dance until October!

Elephant Revival: 7:30 p.m., Woodmen Hall. Nederland Colorado neo-acoustic quintet Elephant Revival plays a unique blend of an emerging new musical genre called Transcendental Folk. The quintet can be seen delving into Scottish/Celtic fiddle tunes, original folk pieces, traditional ballads, psychedelic country, indie rock, powerful reggae grooves, 40s/50s jazz standards and an occasional hip-hop beat amongst other styles. The band consists of Bonnie Paine (vocals, washboard, djembe, musical saw), Sage Cook (electric banjo/guitar, acoustic guitar, mandolin, viola, vocals), Dango Rose (double-bass, mandolin, banjo, vocals), Daniel Rodriguez (acoustic guitar, electric banjo/guitar vocals) and Bridget Law (fiddle and vocals).

Lecture: 7 p.m., LCCA. Dr. Julie Stein, the Burke Museum Executive Director, will present a lecture entitled “Big Sites, Small Sites, and Settlement Patterns in the San Juan Islands.” Donations appreciated.

Annual Lopez Garden Club plant sale and auction: 10 a.m. – noon,Woodman Hall, Fisherman Bay Road. This annual event is a great way to buy inexpensive starts and plants. Come early to get the best selection. The auction of selected plants is a featured part of the plant sale. Always great plants and bargains.

“Wildflowers and Wine”: 10:15 a.m to 3:45 p.m. Join the San Juan Preservation Trust for their annual visit to private and public land on Iceberg Point, Lopez Island. Search for your favorite wildflowers on this informative hike, and end the day at Lopez Island Vineyards. Participant limit is 20, free outing. The Princess and the Frog: 2 – 4 p.m., Lopez Library. Rated G. A modern day retelling of the classic story The Frog Prince. The Princess and the Frog finds the lives of arrogant, carefree Prince Naveen and hardworking waitress Tiana crossing paths. Prince Naveen is transformed into a frog by a conniving voodoo magician and Tiana, following suit, upon kissing the amphibian royalty. With the help of a trumpet-playing alligator, a Cajun firefly, and an old blind lady who lives in a boat in a tree, Naveen and Tiana must race to break the spell and fulfill their dreams. With the voices of Oprah Winfrey, Anika Noni Rose, Bruno Campos, and Jenifer Lewis, Keith David, Michael-Leon Wooley, Jimmy Cummings, Peter Bartlett, Ritchie Montgomery, Terrence Howard and John Goodman. Learn about Web videoconferencing – you can attend virtual meetings and save on your ferry fare and travel time.
