Evening Meals at School: Be a part of this festive community gathering that supports local, seasonal, and sustainably grown food from our island farms. A kid-friendly option of plain grains and raw vegetables and a wheat-free version of the dessert are available at every meal; at the Lopez School Multi-Purpose Room from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. This is a donations-only event. Food Charrette Workshop for local food issues: 9 a.m. at LCCA. This all day workshop will explore food issues—growing, eating, processing, and marketing local foods. There are areas geared toward farmers/growers, cooks, value added products, marketers, and “foodies!“ The island farm to school program will be included. Admission Free. Lopez Island Golf Club, 5th Annual Soggy Bottom Golf Tournament: A Hospice fundraiser, the four person scramble features cash and other prizes donated by the Galley Restaurant and Sunset Builders. The Galley will supply snacks and refreshments at registration. The tournament welcomes everyone from touring professionals striving for total golf dominance to first time hackers looking for a fun day out to benefit Hospice. The Caterpillar Circus is coming to Lopez Island: 2-4pm. This is a library-sponsored event by the Northwest Puppet Center. Professional puppet shadow master, Dec Chase will teach you how to make colorful, articulated caterpillar shadow puppets. Then she’ll help you train your caterpillars to go on an obstacle course in preparation for the grand finale – the Caterpillar Circus! Age 5 to adult. Space limited. Registration is necessary.
