Felicity Green has been practicing yoga since 1964 and in 1968 began teaching as well. But in 1974 she devoted herself to Iyengar yoga and is a founding member of the first group that started teaching Iyengar yoga teaching training in the United States. Green has spent a great deal of time in India studying with BKS Iyengar, the founder of Iyengar yoga, and she resides on Lopez Island, where she has taught Iyengar yoga for many years.
She is teaching Creaky Yoga on Thursdays, at 10:30 a.m. at Woodmen Hall. If you can sit in a chair and stand up, you are eligible. The class will focus on flexibility and some easy strengthening poses. This yoga will assist with the circulation of blood, will energize the body and help to focus the mind. Those who have been in the class for a while will notice an improvement in flexibility and mental acuity. Green blends the symbolic, devotional and philosophic aspects of yoga with the physical body work of the poses to create a rounded and satisfying class.
Felicity Green has worked as an occupational therapist for many years and as a private Hatha yoga teacher. Years of teaching experience and a previous career in occupational therapy has given her instruction a strong therapeutic base. She holds an Advanced Iyengar Yoga Teaching Certificate and has taught yoga for over forty years. She is a founding member of the Iyengar Institute of San Francisco, and has produced many instructional videos and compact discs on yoga. She also spent three years at the Yasodhara Ashram in Canada, and provides both private and group workshops in yoga in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, and other international locations.
There is no charge for the class, and if you are interested and want further information, please contact Felicity Green at 468-3492.
