The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

11/13

• An Orcas Island deputy responded to a theft call at the Orcas Ferry Landing. A reporting party had a GoPro camera stolen from the county public dock. A suspect has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

• A Lopez Island deputy responded to a resident attempting to drive a vehicle without a valid driver’s license. The individual was in a parking lot of a local business. Deputies provided the individual a courtesy ride home and explained not to drive until the license was reissued.

• Deputies on Orcas Island responded to a domestic dispute. No crime of domestic violence had been committed. One of the involved was issued a verbal warning for violation of the San Juan County noise ordinance. One of the involved agreed to leave the residence for the night.

• Deputies on Orcas Island returned to the scene of a domestic dispute. The once-separated parties had gotten back together and resumed arguing. One of the involved was issued a notice of infraction for violation of the San Juan County noise ordinance.

• A deputy on San Juan Island received a report of property damage. This case is still under investigation.

• A Lopez Island deputy responded to a reported mail theft. The incident was documented.

• An Orcas Island deputy responded to an allegation of a court order violation. An investigation was conducted, and a report was sent to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.

• A San Juan deputy observed someone trespassing on a property they were not allowed to be on. The individual was issued a citation for criminal trespass in the second degree.

• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle for crossing the center line and nearly striking another vehicle. The driver was arrested for DUI and booked into jail.

• A deputy on San Juan Island received a report of a possible DUI driver. The driver was contacted and testing showed that the person was not driving under the influence.

• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle as the owner had a suspended driver’s license. The driver was issued a citation for driving without a license in the 3rd degree and an infraction for no insurance.

• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle for speed. The driver was issued a criminal citation for driving without a license in the 3rd degree.

• An Orcas Island deputy conducted a traffic stop near the 7300 block of Orcas Road. The driver was subsequently issued an infraction for speeding 18 mph over the posted speed limit and not having a valid driver’s license. He was also issued several verbal warnings.

• An Orcas Island deputy conducted a traffic stop near the 7300 block of Orcas Road. The driver was subsequently issued an infraction for speeding 12 mph over the posted speed limit and expired vehicle registration.

• An Orcas Island deputy responded to a call of a noninjury, motor vehicle collision, in the parking lot of a local business. None of the involved parties required Emergency Medical Services. The incident was documented.

• A Lopez resident was issued an infraction for speed, 58 mph in a 35 mph zone, on Fisherman Bay Road.

• An Orcas Island deputy apprehended a wanted fugitive. The individual was taken into custody without incident. Additional criminal charges are pending.

• A deputy on San Juan Island received a report of a rollover vehicle collision. Both occupants of the vehicle were transported to the hospital. This case is still under investigation.

• A domestic was reported to the Sheriff’s Office. The incident was investigated and a juvenile was arrested but was later released.

11/18

• A Lopez deputy responded to a noninjury accident on Airport Road. A vehicle was discovered in the early morning to have rolled onto its side and was abandoned. The driver was nowhere to be found. The matter is under investigation.

• A Lopez deputy and Lopez EMS performed a court-ordered mental health patient pickup.

• A deputy on San Juan Island received a report of a safekeeping. The deputy took the item and booked it into evidence for safekeeping.

11/19

• An Orcas Island deputy responded to a suspicious person at a local park. The individual was soliciting park guests to go with the individual to have fun. Deputies were provided a description of the vehicle and individual. An investigation is in progress.

• A deputy on San Juan Island received a report of an injury collision. The person was transported by SJ EMS. A report was completed.

• A deputy on San Juan Island had a deer in their patrol vehicle.
