Free Workshop: Learn about Opportunity to Sell Local Food Products to San Juan School District

The free workshop will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2009 from 11:30 am – 3:30 pm at Friday Harbor High School. Lunch will be provided so that workshop participants can experience a typical meal from the new school menu. Please RSVP to Lovel@rockisland.com.

The workshop is being co-sponsored by the Experience Food Project, Eco Praxis and the San Juan Islands Agricultural Guild. An effort will be made to give growers one-on-one coaching help them determine whether growing for the school would be a good business decision.

Chef Tom French’s nationally recognized Experience Food Project, which provides fresh, nutritious and flavorful meals for the San Juan Island School District, is committed to sourcing as much local food as possible. To further support this effort, Chef Tom has also joined the Island Certified Local Program.

The Agricultural Resources Committee (ARC) of San Juan County created the Islands Certified Local Program to brand local food products and help consumers choose island grown products.
