Solar Eclipse/New Moon

This week promises to be one of the craziest in a long time, both personally and on the world stage. As we begin the month of Love, there is plenty to grumble about due to this New Moon eclipsing the Sun and holding hands with Mercury going backwards! Wow!

This week will be the sign of things to come, so refrain from making anything long-term right now unless you’re a glutton for punishment. As what’s been hidden becomes startlingly clear and as what was obvious suddenly retreats into uncertainty, this is a time to hold things loosely in terms of anything outside of our own personal control.

While the world stage gets nuttier and the airwaves are filled with economic woes and spin doctors trying to sugar coat the wrongs done, my advice is not to fall for any of it. We know things are going out of kilter, there is no denying it. The best we can do is keep our own back porch clean, make ourselves as comfortable as possible, and hold our loved ones close.

We are well into the major “Paradigm Shift” so touted in the ’80’s. A paradigm shift is never easy or fun. Still, ethics and integrity and wisdom are timeless. Read the Classics. Comfort your minds with what is tried and true, then apply it to your own life.

Aries (March 21- April 19): This week’s New Moon in your sector of goals and friendships will separate “the men from the boys.” With Mercury retrograde in that same sector, some key decisions are dependant on others and you’ll find out who is with you and who is straddling the fence. Remember to refrain from signing any contracts during this time. Take your newfound knowledge and put it to good use, and keep fact-finding.

Taurus (April 20 — May 20): Whoa! Balance isn’t there at this time due to too many snags in your sector of career! You may be changing jobs or be the casualty of “downsizing” (or whatever the 21st century work for “fired” is). You have bigger fish to fry than some of the petty happenings around you, so focus on bettering your lot. Mighty Jupiter and Pluto in your sector of expansion/travel/spirituality are taking you in a different direction in terms of attitude. Follow them willingly.

Gemini (May 21- June 20): This week’s New Moon collides with Mercury retrograde, both in unpredictable Aquarius. Your patience is not going to be at its best, and if you’re not careful you could shoot yourself in the foot. Don’t open your mouth before you engage your brain. There are many factors that are not only nebulous but also downright untrustworthy. Be your own best friend.

Cancer (June 21 — July 22): You are really under the gun this week; get ready for a real roller coaster as the week progresses! You may be feeling as if you are under attack but in reality you are making yourself too available to be a target. Withdraw and collect your legs under yourself. You can only do so much, and while you are one that loves to pamper and be pampered, you’re going to have to wait for the pampering. For now, settle for peace of mind.

Leo (July 23 — August 22): Your sector of relationships goes haywire this week, due to the New Moon/Solar Eclipse and retrograde Mercury both colliding in that sector of your solar chart. Treat carefully and at the same time, don’t be a doormat. If you are in the process of a divorce or separation, your ex could throw you a real curve ball. Be watchful and don’t immediately react. Also, don’t sign any papers now. Be cautious.

Virgo (August 23 — September 21): While on the one hand you have a lot of solid support, the winds of change on the surface are knocking you for a loop. The New Moon/Solar Eclipse coupled with Mercury retrograde in your sector of work and health may find you with a dumb, stupid accident of some kind due to a mechanical failure. Be careful and aware of what’s around you! And get your car checked out!

Libra (September 22 — October 23): You want so badly for things to be fair, but they aren’t. You don’t like making waves or taking a stand, but you’ve been backed into a corner and have no choice. Kill ’em with kindness but back away. If you feel you’ve been lied to, it’s probably true, so follow your guts. This is a very unstable month, so practice gratitude for all the things that go right in each day and the things that are off-kilter won’t bother you so much.

Scorpio (October 24- November 22): Whew … where do we start? First things first. The retrograde Mercury goes hand in hand with a powerful New Moon/Solar Eclipse in your sector of home. You may find out that a family member is having a problem, or that someone close to you hasn’t been up front with you. Your intuition is very acute, but don’t let it lead you into a negative attitude. Wait and see. If you’ve been noticing something that is off, you’re probably right. Let it reveal itself.

Sagittarius (November 23 — December 20): This is going to be a crazy month, so find the humor in it and carry on. The New Moon/Solar Eclipse in your sector of communication, learning and errands couples with retrograde Mercury this week. Keep your running around to a minimum and be sure you have a reliable backup vehicle. You may be very accident-prone this week. Don’t take any chances.

Capricorn (December 21 — January 21): You may get a nasty surprise in terms of finances due to the New Moon/Solar Eclipse joining the retrograde Mercury in your sector of finances/resources. Since we are approaching tax time, it could be that some dumb new tax law has you paying more than you’d budgeted for. Don’t panic, and don’t do anything rash. You still have time to sort it out, so do the wisest thing … put it off for a couple of weeks.

Aquarius (January 22 — February 20): If your life gets any crazier you’re going to feel like a candidate for the Nut Hut! This New Moon/Solar Eclipse joins retrograde Mercury in your zany sign, setting you up to be the magnet for some high strangeness. Don’t fly off the handle and judge others for not getting it. They’re suffering too. Best advice is to spend good time with trusted friends that can keep your nerves soothed.

Pisces (February 21 — March 20): Don’t get knocked off your rails by the overwhelming insanity surrounding you. If it’s within you, go get help. This powerful New Moon/Solar Eclipse coupled with the retrograde Mercury in your sector of goals and friends may throw you a curve ball you weren’t expecting. You won’t be able to say you didn’t see it coming, but this week promises to kick the slats out of any denial you’ve been in. Looks like you’ll just have to put on your big kid panties and deal with it.
