Lopez Community Land Trust Executive Director Sandy Bishop (right) stands with Josh Wolfe at the National Association of State Community Services Programs award ceremony in Washington DC last week. The Land Trust won first prize in the “new construction” category for the latest affordable housing neighborhood Common Ground.

Bishop and assistant director Rhea Miller traveled to D.C to collect the award. The award was also given in part because of LCLT’s publication of the manual “Land, Water, Energy, Resource Use: A System’s Approach”, Wolfe was the publisher of this.

The presentation took place at the Bethesda Hyatt Regency. The award came in the form of a plaque, an energy audit kit donated by Fluke including an infrared thermometer, laser distance meter and a dozen other devices. Also a trip to Austin Texas to attend the ACI National Home Performance Conference, high accuracy software for energy audits, and other training scholarships and certificates.

Miller and Bishop say that the conference was “high energy with a lot of focus on national energy policy, jobs and the importance on energy conservation and the role it plays in our energy independence as a nation.”
