December is your last chance to visit Edith Edwards’ antique store A Place in Thyme.
Dec. 22 will be her last day in business and the store is currently in the middle of a massive clearance sale.
Tucked into to a tiny building opposite Lopez School, Edwards’ antique store is crammed full of china, linens, household items, crystal, baskets, stationary items, collectors items, ornaments, art and much more.
The variety of items available is a testament to Edwards’ long-standing love of antiques.
Although Edwards had a long and successful career in public education, antiques have long been a passion.
When she retired and moved to Lopez in 2007, the small space on her property seemed perfect to showcase her large collection; accrued and stored over the years.
Edwards said antiques are about “the elegant things in life that we don’t make any more.” She has a special passion for linens that demonstrate all the finery of antique needle craft.
The store will close to allow Edwards more time for travel and other pursuits. A Place in Thyme opens at 11 a.m.
